Mammography Services
Experts with the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center recognize
the important role mammograms play in the early detection of
breast cancer, together with regular self exams and an annual
physical exam performed by a trained professional. We encourage
all women to begin regular mammography screenings starting at
age 40.
Women at higher risk for breast cancer may be advised to
begin at a younger age. Understanding your risk of breast cancer
is another important component of prevention and early
detection. To help women understand their risk, UConn offers a
Cancer Prevention Program for Women.
Mammography at Your Convenience
State-of-the-art mammography services are available through
the UConn Health Center’s Department of Diagnostic Imaging and
Therapeutics, conveniently located on the main floor of the John
Dempsey Hospital in Farmington and in the East Hartford office
of UConn Health Partners at 99 Ash Street. To accommodate your
needs, early morning and evening appointments are available.
Help for Women with Little or No Insurance
The Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation covers the cost
of mammograms for women with little or no health insurance.
Since 1996, the Foundation has helped hundreds of Connecticut
women get access to mammography.
Along with providing free mammograms for women who could not
otherwise afford them, the Foundation also supports education
programs on breast cancer and provides educational materials to
women who undergo breast surgery.
To receive assistance, mention the Hollfelder Foundation at
the time of scheduling your mammogram appointment. |
