Physician Profile
Carl D. Malchoff, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Carl Malchoff received his undergraduate degree from
Cornell University, his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the
University of Rochester and his postgraduate training in
Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology and Metabolism at The
University of Virginia.
Dr. Malchoff’s primary clinical interest is in the field of
endocrine neoplasia. Upon his arrival at the University of
Connecticut Health Center in 1985, Dr. Malchoff recognized that
endocrine neoplasia patients were underserved. Only
rare clinicians have expertise and experience across the entire
range of benign and malignant endocrine tumors. Since 1985, he
has persistently and successfully encouraged other clinicians in
different specialties to collaborate with him and develop
specialized clinical services for the care of endocrine neoplasia patients. Review of his curriculum vitae
indicates that Dr. Malchoff is a national leader in the
understanding and care of adrenal and thyroid disorders, with
over 40 peer reviewed manuscripts, over 30 book chapters,
and recognition by Best Doctors, Inc.
In 2001, the Endocrine Neoplasia Program was established as an official clinical program within the Neag Comprehensive
Cancer Center at the Health Center. It remains the only
comprehensive Endocrine Neoplasia Program of its kind in
Connecticut, and is positioned to serve the unique needs of its
patients.
