Mammography Assistance

Making Access to Mammography Easier

Now there is no reason for any woman not to have an annual mammogram due to financial constraints. The Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation covers the cost of mammograms for women with little or no health insurance. Since 1996, the Foundation has helped hundreds of Connecticut women get access to mammography – a critical tool in the early detection of breast cancer.

Along with providing free mammograms for women who could not otherwise afford them, the Foundation also supports breast cancer education programs.

To receive assistance, mention the Hollfelder Foundation at the time of scheduling your mammogram appointment.

To make an appointment, call 860-679-2784 or 860-282-8523.

Mammograms are offered through the Health Center’s Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutics, conveniently located on the main floor of the UConn Health Center in Farmington and at UConn Health Partners, 99 Ash Street, East Hartford.

In Honor of Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder
Photo of Charlotte Johnson HollfelderCharlotte Hollfelder was a generous and vibrant woman who survived breast cancer, and died of an unrelated illness. She was a tireless volunteer who cared deeply about the UConn Health Center and its mission of service to the community. In honor of her beautiful life and her courageous fight against breast cancer, her husband, Fred, established the Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation to help other women overcome breast cancer.  Along with providing free mammograms for women who could not otherwise afford them, the Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation also supports breast cancer education programs.

Take Note

If you are at average risk for developing breast cancer, do a breast self-exam every month, ideally starting at age 20. Follow up with a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years between ages 20-30, then every year starting at age 40.
