FARMINGTON, CONN – Millions of people are affected by breast cancer. Whether you are a patient, a supporter or a survivor, your life can change dramatically. As always, the Discovery Series is free and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Health Center’s Keller Auditorium. Registration is required by calling 800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692.

Speakers will include RuthAnn Lobo, who will share her inspiring personal story. Ms. Lobo has been an advocate for women with breast cancer and is the mother of Rebecca Lobo, who was the star of UConn’s 1995 championship basketball team.

Surgical oncologists Lori Wilson, M.D., and Malini Iyer, M.D., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S., of the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center, will discuss what patients and families should expect when a diagnosis of breast cancer is made. They will share tips about how to be a more knowledgeable patient and understanding supporter. They will also discuss new methods of diagnosis and treatment, including the benefits of digital mammography for some women.
