May 16, 2007Coach Calhoun Bikes to Health Center to Promote Cancer
Challenge Bike Ride
FARMINGTON, CONN. – University of Connecticut men’s basketball coach
Jim Calhoun will be biking to the main entrance of the UConn Health
Center tomorrow, Thursday, May 17 at noon and leading a pep rally
in the hospital’s center courtyard to raise awareness about the upcoming
Big Y Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride on June 9.
This exciting cycling event will take place in Simsbury and will
include rides of 10, 25 and 50 miles. Proceeds will benefit the Carole
and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center and
Coaches vs. Cancer. Coach Calhoun, a cancer survivor and grateful
patient of the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, is coming to the Health
Center to help enlist riders and volunteers for the event.
