Can Cancer Be Prevented?
Learn Steps to Reduce Cancer Risks at April 10 Discovery Series
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Most Americans know by now that if they
quit smoking they reduce their risk of lung cancer; if they avoid
exposure to the sun they reduce their risk of skin cancer. But how
many know that alcohol consumption increases risk of oral and breast
cancers; that physical inactivity is linked with a greater risk for
colon cancer?
Experts from the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at
the UConn Health Center will discuss strategies to
reduce the risk of several types of cancers, including
cancers of the breast, ovaries, colon, skin and more at
a Discovery Series program on Thursday, April 10.
The program begins at 7 p.m. in the Health Center’s
Keller Auditorium. The Discovery Series is free but
registration is required by calling 800-535-6232.
Carolyn Runowicz, M.D., director of the Neag
Comprehensive Cancer Center and chairman of the National
Cancer Advisory Board, along with medical and surgical
oncologists from the center will lead an interactive
discussion and question and answer session. Moderator of
the program will be Mary Jones, host of the Mary Jones
Show, WDRC-AM radio.
