Therapeutic Area: Melanoma

Principal Investigator: Dr. Susan Tannenbaum

Title: E1697, Phase III Randomized Study of Four Weeks High Dose IFN a-2b in Stage T3  - T4 or N1 (microscopic) Melanoma

Description: This is a study for people with early melanoma, which can be removed surgically. The study includes a drug called Interferon Alfa-2b (IFN a-2b), which is a substance normally produced by the body's immune system. IFN a-2b has been shown to have anti-tumor activity in advanced melanoma. Participants would be randomized to receive either IFB a-2b, or no treatment following surgical removal of the melanoma. The purpose of this study is to see if treatment with Interferon is more effective than no treatment after surgery, in preventing melanoma from returning.

Length/Duration: 4 weeks of treatment, patients will be followed until progression or death

Compensation: None
