Clinical Trials: Oral Cancer/Head and Neck Carcinomas

Therapeutic Area: Head and Neck

Principal Investigator: Dr. Upendra Hegde

Title: A randomized phase III trial comparing sequential therapy with TPF/Chemoradiation (ST) to cisplatinum-base chemoradiotherapy with accelerated concomitant boost radiotherpay (CRT) for locally advanced squamous cell cancer of the head and neck (The Paradigm study).

Description: This study is for people with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.  The purpose of this study is to determine if treating these patients with a combination of docetaxel/cisplatin/5-fluorouracil for three cycles followed by treatment with additional chemotherapy and concurrent radiotherapy is more effective than the standard treatment plan of giving chemotherapy at the same time as giving radiotherapy.

Length/Duration: Up to 4 months of treatment followed by up to 5 years of follow-up
