Current Clinical Trials

Patients with cancer or individuals who may be at a higher risk for developing cancer are often asked to participate in a clinical trial. Patients and their families should obtain as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision about participating in a clinical trial. IRB #03-016: Physical Constitution and Risk Factors
Complementary medicine, Ayurveda, based study will gather information of individual body type (bioenergy: Vata, Phita, Kapha) and analyze risk factors for diseases like cancer.

Bone: Effects of Therapy

Effects on Bone
IRB #01-227: Bone Turnover in Prostate Cancer: Evaluating bone health in men under treatment for prostate cancer.

IRB #02-062: This study will evaluate the effect on bone health of androgen deprivation therapy (injections of medications such as luprolide or goserelin) used in the treatment of locally advanced prostate cancer.

IRB #04-142: Study seeking volunteers with early stage breast cancer who have completed 5 years of Tamoxifen therapy and are being started on Letrozole (Femara®) by their oncologist, to evaluate effects on sex hormones, risk of osteoporosis and blood pressure.

Melanoma
IRB #01-0175: A clinical trial for individuals with high risk melanoma of cutaneous origin.

IRB #99-178: This is a study for people with early melanoma, which can be removed surgically. The study includes a drug called Interferon Alfa-2b (IFN a-2b).
